- Nature's Connection to Our Built World -

Vastuworld Healthy Design Series: Guidelines for true Architecture:
Four Suggestions of Form which become basis of design study Architecture designers give the visual form to ideas through form making. The visual principles we discuss today, particularly dynamic symmetry, are tools to increase our form making productivity and effectiveness.

Our Connection to Nature's Order: Perception: We know Nature is a highly complex and highly ordered system of systems (a meta-system). We understand this ordered complex through scientific analysis expressed in scientific language, and through philosophical thought and literature's poetic language

However, we connect to this ordered complex through the involuntary and subconscious workings of our perceptual system. We are constituent to nature's configuration, and so also comprise Nature's ordered complex.
Nature's Growth Spiral :

Now that we have touched on our innate order and organization in perception, we can discuss briefly Nature's unity, order, and organization.
Research on natural form denotes Nature's unity in the remarkable irrational number, 1.618. That there is a basic unity among Nature's diversity is a centuries old observation. Mathematicians, philosophers, and scientist have long considered the principle 'unity in diversity.'

Historic Precedent:

Nature has long guided architects, artisans, artists, scribes, and typographers in the shaping of our built world. Certain proportions recur in their work, and comprise simple geometric figures: equilateral triangle, square, regular pentagon, hexagon, octagon, and others. Often, builders based measurements and proportions on the human body (anthropomorphism). These proportions have endured a critical examination over time and formed the built habitat in many different ages and cultures.

Golden Section

We learned that the irrational number 1.618 describes Nature's growth spiral. We know 1.618 as the Golden Section, and Phi, the twenty-first letter of the Greek alphabet is its symbol. The Golden Section was shown first by Pythagoras (580-500 BC) through his study of musical scales.

The Golden Section derives from many mathematic and geometric methods.

Hambidge's Dynamic Symmetry

is the natural design methodology based on Nature's growth spiral. Hambidge took the expression 'dynamic symmetry' from the Plato's writings, and one of his information sources on classical proportion was the first-century BC architect and scholar, Vitruvius. The term 'dynamic' regards growth energy, and the term 'symmetry' regards its older definition of commensurability.5

The pine cone and sunflower are ideal natural models to study the basis of dynamic symmetry. The pine cone shows the cross-curve phyllotaxis in three dimensions, and the sunflower shows the cross-curve phyllotaxis in two dimensions.

Biologic Architecture

Biologic Architecture is the set of rules that determine which symmetry or quality of electric field allows all biologic structures to thrive. The opposite of the death and disease creating electro smog and steel and aluminum cages which visibly inhibit ALL growth - biologic architecture puts into practice the simple rules which allow building and community plans to make FRACTAL and rose petal like charge fields which puts charge into everything based on DNA. Genes are like all living things - they are based on PHI and fractality precisely because only constructive charge compression allows all biologic memory (survival) to be stored - and allows that same field effect (life force is what biologic capacitors eat) - to radiate efficiently into the electric flower of self organization called growth, healing, attention, bliss, and ultimately what must go thru death by compression successfully

Relax and Enjoy the Creative Process : Process of Blissful Architecture:

Play with images that emerge from your subconscious as you open to conceive your 'perfect' space allow these 'keys' to inform the next stage.

Learn the symmetry operations of Nature or at least gently demand that your architect does the shape of the space is ALL symmetry creates implosion = LIFE

Engage the land with awareness and respect - connect, relate, honour and support the elemental realm. Remember, the land is their home too. Learning and practicing basis Shamanic skills is recommended.

Dowse and map your site find the power points and the hot spots. Learn to engage and effect positive and sustainable change through awareness and compassion. Keep the map updated.

Work with the elements of the land (Vastu Sashtra) maximize north positive cosmic energies, light and heat. Provide shelter to South develop awareness of prevailing winds etc.
